The Dip - A Month in the Life of a y00t | n00wsletter #10
A Look into This Week's Latest Crypto News and Tips
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
A few days ago marked one month since I entered the y00ts community—my god, what a month. The following summarizes my thoughts before buying my y00ts, how I feel about y00ts now, and where I see things going. Enjoy!
How It Was
Before I acquired my y00ts, I was a hater. As to why, I'm not entirely sure. If I had to guess, the ETH maxi in me didn’t like the idea of Solana NFTs. Or maybe I was salty that I missed the y00ts application. Perhaps a bit of both. Nonetheless, I watched from the sidelines, y00tless.
For a month straight, the only thing I saw on my timeline were those flexing their t00bs. You can imagine the salt flowing through my veins at the time. However, as time progressed, the excitement subsided, Solana NFTs disappeared from my timeline, and FTX fucked the Solana ecosystem. After that, I thought it was fate that I never got into y00ts. Little did I know, everything was about to change.
Two events led to me pulling the trigger:
1). On Dec 29, 2022, roughly two days before my y00ts buy, Vitalik Buterin posted the following tweet that got my gears turning.

Everything Solana had been out of sight, out of mind up to this point. Yet, after reading this tweet, the y00ts flashbacks flooded my brain, leading me down a rabbit hole of y00ts research. This led me to a discovery that significantly peaked my interest and is probably the biggest reason for me pulling the trigger.
2). When scrolling through y00ts socials, I came across the following tweet that blew my mind.
Believe it or not, I completely missed this tweet when it got posted. I saw it only because of a reaction to Vitalik’s tweet that I shared above. I blame the holidays. Nonetheless, imagine my face when I was finally coming around to the idea of Solana, then seeing y00ts was bridging to Polygon. My initial reaction was shock, both in terms of excitement and surprise. Keep in mind I knew nothing around Frank, Kevin, or the y00ts community at this time. That quickly changed.
When exploring NFT projects, one thing I look for is ambition. I love the idea of trying shit, breaking shit, failing, and trying again. I got excited when I saw that y00ts, alongside DeGods, were planning on bridging an entire collection. From what I know, nothing like this has been attempted before. I understand the negative implications, but at the time, I didn’t care, and I still don’t. If anything, I'm more excited than ever.
Long story short, I found myself a few days later scrolling Magic Eden at 1 AM on New Year’s night. This is where the next chapter in the story starts.
How It’s Going
On day one of holding my y00t, I was blown away by the community's support. I think I had around 300 followers then but quickly found myself at 500, 1000, and so on. The followers were cool, but what really caught my attention was the love via DMs, spaces, and so on. I heard y00ts were built different, but experiencing the love first-hand was something special.
I got my first introduction to the core y00ts fam via a community space hosted by Sm0key, a leader in the y00ts community. This was also my first introduction to the Twitter space game, which I am now addicted to. I blame you, Sm0key (LMAO <3).
Fun Fact: I bought my y00ts when Solana was $9.70, days before its most recent run up.
This may sound corny, but that singular Twitter space completely changed how I navigate and understand Web3. Less for the reasons talked about in that specific Twitter space but more because of the path it led me down: I was invited to groups with like-minded and hungry individuals, gained more confidence to talk on Twitter spaces, and was motivated to start producing content via open forums (such as this n00wsletter).
Now, I’m proud to say I rep y00ts #8794 as my current Web3 identity. Even if I have to change it in the future, I’ll take this experience with me forever. It’s only been one month. I can’t wait to see how different things are six months from now.
What It’s Going to Be
This section is for those less educated on y00ts and is my opinion on how I think playing out in the future.
When you think of Polygon NFTs, what comes to mind?
Likely, the only thing that does is Reddit NFTs, Trump Trading Cards, and various gaming NFTs. Yes, I’m fully aware of the Starbucks Rewards Program and other platforms that use Polygon NFTs. However, I'm referring strictly to PFP-like projects like Reddit. With that in mind, I believe that y00ts bridging to Polygon opens up immense opportunities for exposure that no other project has; let me explain.
y00ts has the possibility to become the face of Polygon’s Web3 ecosystem. In my opinion, when it comes to partnerships, marketability, branding, etc., there are very few chains that can compete with Polygon. Yet, where Polygon falters is its Web3-degen community aspect, which is heavily present in other chains such as Solana, Ethereum, etc. This is where I believe y00ts will come in, elevating the community aspect of the Polygon chain, like it did the Solana chain.
Of course, what’s different this time is y00ts will be without its big brother DeGods. However, in my opinion, y00ts has built itself enough to run on its own. Within the next year, I wouldn’t be surprised to see y00ts partnered with handfuls of mainstream platforms, acting as Polygon’s ‘Web3 Mascot.' The following are a few examples

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I can’t wait to see what's next for y00ts after the merge later this Q1 (or Q2 #DeLays). Have a great day!
